Oregon Chapter

CEI USA is run from this chapter. President, Dan Hoynacki, leads this chapter as well. We have attended conferences starting in 2004, and hosted 2 conferences, one in 2005 and one in 2017.

All current CEI projects are conducted by this chapter. For more information about current projects, visit the Projects page.

CEI Oregon is based out of the OSU Extension Service in Marion County, with our students coming from Early College High School and Chemeketa Community College.

Illinois Chapter

The Illinois Chapter of CEI USA is based in Chicago, and run by Wayne Schimpff and Calvin Young. Wayne has attended 29 conferences, and brought over 90 students to the different conferences.  Calvin, once a student, now co-coordinates the Chicago Branch.

Originally, this chapter was based out of Hubbard High School in Chicago, but later moved to Von Steuben Metropolitan High School. This was through the Urban Horticulture Science course that Wayne piloted for the Chicago Public Schools. Over the course of the 20 years that this course was offered, approximately 1800 students were impacted, and their lives enriched through the service learning activities and classes.

During the time at Hubbard HS, over $2.54 million was used to conduct service learning projects and activities. After moving to Von Steuben, a $1.5 million river bank restoration project was started, which is one of the nation's largest service learning grants to date.

New York Chapter

Our New York Chapter is run out of the Birch Wathen Lenox School in New York, NY.  The BWL Earth Club, coordinated by Rhonda Rigrodski, has been participating in Caretakers of the Environment International since 2005.

More information about BWL will be coming soon!
